we had a beautiful ornate alter and statues of the SACRED HEART AND ST JOSEPH this was all taken out of the church because the priest at the time said it was required. multi million dollar churches do not glorify god we in our hearts and mind do that. also i believe the real church is in our hearts and minds. the church building is just a place for the real church(the faithful)to gather and glorify God. i reiterate build a simple chuch and give the rest to charity. think of all the poor and needy it would help

Dear James ~
I cannot respond to the remarks about loosing your alter as I am not sure what you are talking about. But I will address the simple buildings note.

Our churches used to be built to glorify God, and to raise our minds and hearts to Him. Notice that since we have lost our beautiful churches, we seem to have lost most of our reverence for him present there also. Folks drift away from the Church, don't know the teachings (Pelosi's comments are an example) and in general respect for the Lord is diminished.

The Lord during his time on earth, was indeed simple in his appearance. However, man needs to see a representation of the glory of heaven to enoble his heart and mind.

God deserves the best we can give, he gave his best to us.

i am troubled by the fact that we the faithful are asked to constantly shell out money for charitable causes.on some sundays in my parish in monterey i have seen as many as 4 collections on one day. now to my point. jesus was a simple man on earth. sandals and robes. why not build a simple inexpensive building and take the rest and give it to charity.it seems as tho everytime i look at the catholic moment you either want money or are spending it.then to top things off, a recent picture on the front page showed a church with a beautiful alter and statuary. when the 2nd ecumenical council ended we in monterey lost ours . the priest told us it was required change by virtue of the council. this and a lot of other questions i have are really troubling me and testing my CATHOLIC faith.
